White House Cafe, Merchant Square

The bf's best friend Ezra's dad opened a coffee house at Merchant Square. Apparently it was Uncle Zaid's dream to open a coffee shop/kopitiam hehe. Anyways - this famous lawyer-businessman-politician added in the kopitiam owner to his portfolio - and fittingly enough, he named the place as White House.

Some really nice coffee. =)

This was the bf's awesome murtabak. Its been so long since I last had murtabak - and I think these murtabak was just pure heavenly!

Nasi dagang special - now we're talking!!! =D

Anyways, another reason why the bf loves to go there so much... Ezra's brother Izad has an iPad. Hahaha.. the bf is just plain crazy about the iPad... he had not stopped bragging and dreaming about the iPad ever since then! =)

The delicious and tasty mushroom soup. The bf hates mushrooms - the only type of mushrooms that he would consume is in the form of - a soup. Press Room has got some really nice mushroom soup that I will definitely order the next time I go there!

The foie gras. Grilled with baked apple bits. The style may not be no.1 for me - but I love my foie gras in any manner. This one doesnt taste as good as the ones at Cafe Cafe though, but it was quite cheap so no complaints.

The bf ordered grilled prawns. I didnt try it though - was already too full. According to him, the prawns were very fresh, very juicy and importantly, the portion was just nice for him, not too much, not too little.

Overall verdict - pretty cosy atmosphere for some nice simple food. 7.5/10!

Fresh Pineapple juice

Fettucini Carbonara with Mushrooms and Walnuts - it was a bit dry and tasted a tad weird, as they added on orange into the carbonara, along with walnuts. The taste was too funky for me and the bf.

Then his Chicken Rendang Nasi Lemak came. It was really good. No wonder when I was walking around, I could see 80% of the patrons there ordering the nasi lemak.

The rendang was so good that we had to mix the tasteless / funky carbonara and eat it like this. LOL! So I really don't recommend the carbonara

They have a good array of Japanese food cuisine - i.e. sushi, sashimi etc.

And then there's some local fruit juice too! This is what I call fusion...

The bf ordered the pork burger - I have tried many different pork burgers everywhere, some were too salty, some were too fatty. This one here at Kissaten - was different however. It tasted different from other pork burgers - one key difference - they used a Japanese sauce that somewhat tasted like teriyaki sauce. The bf loved it - and I love it too!

The sausage platter. The bf loves sausages - and somehow everywhere we go that has sausages also he'll surely order sausages. MmmphH!!! The sausages come in two different varieties and tastes; I like the normal version better - much juicier and yummier... =P

Baked oysters. One thing that I enjoy eating - but in small portions though is oysters! This one was baked in cheese and its special seasoning.

Some finger food while waiting for the main courses to come. Somehow this was NOT really considered finger food though. Tiny prawns, deep fried to perfection and served just like that. Haha.. the bf didnt like it at all. He thought it was just disgusting. I thought it was really nice.

Wah Lok is a popular Cantonese restaurant in Carlton Hotel, one of Singapore's most preferred business class hotels. The dim sum dishes there are really small and just the right size, so you can try as many dishes as you want and not be filled up so soon. On the overall, the food would be thumbs up. Tastes way better then loads of dim sum places in Malaysia.
