Been away for a few weeks now and constantly craving food back home. One of my cravings were the Hainanese Chicken Rice from Restaurant Satellite so close to home! (I miss!) >.<

It didnt help when Sha Dar cooked it and posted it online as well! So I googled for the recipe and sent it to the bf and asked him to cook it for me. Which we did it together eventually, it was fun ^^

Thanks to Evelyn, we discovered a new restaurant other than LYJ that I somehow felt the quality has deteriorated since the first time I was there. Mei Six restaurant actually serves a much more flavourful and appetising phoon choi.

On a normal basis a pot of phoon chou is meant to serve for 6-8 people (depending on the size of their appetite) however being epicly ridiculous me, D and A (YES! The three of us) braved the journey there with no clue where the place was and a malfunctioning GPS. :DDD

Worth the drive there for sure and definitely a satisfied - returning customer!

OverTime brings you the Master Brewer of Starker beer

Last Thursday, a group of bloggers was specially invited by OverTime and Sirens Media to attend the soft launch of their Pavilion, KL branch. Gracing the launch was Timothy O’Rourke who is the Master brewer of Starker beer. A sweet tasting and fresh beer that is customarily served at all OverTime outlets ala barrel style. The best part about OverTime and their Starker beers are their happy hours. Who could pass on their offers? A barrel for a barrel before 6pm and you get to hack on the copper pipe onto the barrel with a big wooden hammer then watch the beer sizzle / foam out slowly from the pipe *yums *

The bloggers were allowed to try out all the dishes on the ala carte menu, and of cos not wasting time, everyone dived in their orders. The jam made everyone hungry and frustrated, good beer plus good food is definitely a feel good factor after a hard day like that.

While the bloggers were busy miggling around, Timothy O’Rourke gave a speech to thank the bloggers for attending the soft launch and started explaining a bit about Starker beer. For those who don’t know, Starker is derived from the word Stronger in German, which is a bit contradicting to its smooth and silky taste. Because of its smooth taste, for someone like me, its kinda dangerous as I will chug down the beer – A LOT of it and get “unwell” really fast. So remember when you drink, drink wisely and slowly to enjoy your beer. :D

Some of the top recommended dishes in OverTime would be their Fresh Water Prawn Noodle (Sang Har Mee), Beancurd Pork (A Hakka famous dish) and the mouth watering Roasted Layered Pork (Siew Yoke). The last two dishes goes sooooooooooooo well as beer snacks, it is a definite must to order them.

The Fresh Water Prawn Noodles are crunchy and the gravy is really yummy, not too salty or blend – kinda hard to find good noodles like this and even much harder to expect a beer outlet to actually serve them well. *thumbs up*

Best part is the strokes of the toothbrush is equivalent to 16,000 brush strokes a minute – that like buffing/polishing your teeth each time your brush it LOL. For those who would like to skive on scaling or polishing, maybe you can try out the toothbrush and it retails at only RM 99. Quite affordable!

Last Friday, Puma kicked off their after-hours athlete again and this round it was done at Cosmic Bowl, Mid Valley Megamall. A few lanes were closed and dedicated for this event and Puma friends (such as Jay Menon, Ben Jern, Josiah Mizukami, Roshan Narayan, Adrian Tan) and bloggers that were exclusively invited for the event got to enjoy bowling games where they battle different teams to win the Grand Prize.

For this year, the event is known as Puma Social Club Nights whereby all after-hours athletes will be heading to different bowling centres and towns to bowl at designated corners in each participating club.

Nike We Run KL 10k

The Nike 10k annual run is set to take place on 27th November 2011 at Padang Merbok, Jalan Parlimen and will be aiming to attract 10,000 participants.

The media launch event took place today at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara with the famed 100k runner Alex Au-Yong :) members of the media were given a pair of Nike Lunar Glide shoes and taken for a 1km run together with Alex. Like a teaser before the actual run takes place.

This years run shows Nikes' support for the development of youth sports and the proceeds will be donated to the Asian Youth Ambassadors (AYA) a non-profit youth development organisation.

Usually organic products and services in Malaysia is rather limited but here at My Beauty Cottage, they have the full range from anti-aging to hydrating and much much more. Some of which I have never heard of.

This is how the treatment room looks like, with its ambiance made to feel like you are right at home. The moment I hit the bed, I felt like sleeping - BADLY! But the fruity smell of the products kinda distracted me a bit there. :P

There are real fruit seeds inside certain products. This is as Eminence uses real fruits in their product and not just the essence. Is This For Real?

When I first blogged about having insomnia and discovering that I was somnipathy - read here - I tried various methods and suggestions recommend by all my friends and readers.

Then, in my previous post I discovered this - the Harmoni Drink (*link to previous post* )

But along the way, I also discovered Qi Gong, rather interestingly it works. J has been on the path of learning and conducting Qi Gong and after reading my previous post he decided to try it out on me. If you were to ask me a few years back I wouldn't have believed it anyway anyhow, but after recent times with Yoga and meditation I began to realize things like these works too!

Some may say its a matter of mentality or mind over matter but I strongly believe it works, cos everything has a yin and yang and the balance is important. When Gramps was still around, he took up Mahikari. Something similar to Qi Gong. He would sit the whole family down one by one and do healing to cleanse our body / replenish good cells as he would say. Then he does spot healings and stuff like that (eg: flu he will focus on yr nose and the back of the head area, and etc depending on our anatomy) some can say it sounds so scientology because they don't believe in the presence of God but just energy.

I spoke to A about it, he did not dismiss that it may work but he also believe that the body in order to replenish and function well, should have proper nutrition, herbs and balance. So like a naggy Uncle, he kept asking me to continue what I am taking (Harmoni Drink)

So having had to consume a particular product on a regular basis, I decided to at least make the effort and do some research on the ingredients that was available in the drink – mana tau got side effects, then sei mei. So after searching around on the world wide web, here are some of the information that I managed to gather – psttt this part will tend to get a lengthy and boring, cos if you aren’t a nutritionist or so, you wouldn’t understand half of it. The 2011 Barclays Asia Trophy was the fifth edition of the Premier League Asia Trophy - and it was brought in by #TuneTalk - the cheapest mobile prepaid service in Malaysia! The trophy was contested by Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Kitchee - dont get me wrong, I'm still a die hard supporter of Manchester United and that will never change!

Both Kitchee of Hong Kong and Blackburn Rovers lost their semi-final games - and they were up first in the 3rd-4th placing. It may have been a game fighting for 3rd placing - but both teams gave it their best to give the fans and spectators a good game.

Blackburn Rovers won the fixture 3-0 - with goals from Mauro Formica, David Dunn and a Nick Blackman penalty.

After the game, then came the final - between Chelsea and Aston Villa.

In the 1st minute itself - young 18 year old Josh McEachran scored the opener for Chelsea - and set the stadium alive - mostly chanting "Chelsea Chelsea". Then in the 2nd half - Torres came on and scored Chelsea's 2nd - to lead Chelsea to a comfortable 2-0 win. =)

I believe the scoreline wont be that easy for Chelsea if they had played EPL Champions Manchester United... but that, we shall wait in this coming EPL season to see how they fare... Lets hope that United will wrap up the League by March or something. We shall see...

All in - I think it was a great tournament - and Tune Talk should hold more events like this! *woots* and next up - bring on the Red Devils!!!

Thanks to #TuneTalk - I was in Hong Kong for the recent 2011 Barclays Asia Trophy - a little 4 team tournament that saw the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers take on local strong team Kitchee! =)

The packed Hong Kong Stadium for both the semi-finals games!

Hehe lets not forget the cute mascot!

The first game saw Aston Villa take on Blackburn Rovers - a very good game that saw Aston Villa win 1-0 - thanks to a goal from Darren Bent!

Both teams attacked very well, and there were plenty of goalmouth action.

Not to mention the midfield action too! Both teams played so well that it was unfortunate that anyone had to lose! The other game saw Chelsea beat Kitchee 4-0...

Next up... the Final! =)

Back from HK yesterday. Feel like crap dot com.

Wish I didn't have to come home so soon, perhaps back here than its back to reality ey.

Unpacked (hate that chore so much) den went out for a drink or two with my emo friend LOL.

Anyway, start of the month of August, good things should be happening and first one of cos is Andrew's birthday! Happy birthday babe! Another year older another year wiser *cough cough* :P too bad I had to leave HK yesterday or I could have stayed back and celebrate your birthday with you! @.@ miss those times when you were still back here in KL - come on! Shift your family back here :P

Shopping is a bliss in HK! I feel like buying everything I come to sight with, bloody bad habit haha.. Need to keep reminding myself to save for NYC 2012. Plastics are poisonous, you keep signing without realizing - and I only realized I went overboard when I maxed out my card in HK. *ahem* But it was for a good deed! Helping friends buy stuff means I get to shop on behalf and I have lesser to spend on my own win-win! Y - time to collect your Prada wallet that we have been searching high and low for :P

I missed my parma ham so much! Having filled my tummy with some in HK makes me crave for more! Can't wait to go back for some Sabatini in Nov/Jan.

Today was a lovely day - well spent with a lovely Spa Pedicure pampering session at Amante and lovely party decorations and tasteful finger food, all thanks to Tammy from Plusizekitten.blogspot.com (she is Cleo's Malaysia 1st Next Top Blogger *woot woot*) She invited a few of us to celebrate the joyful event of her blog's 3rd Anniversary with a party theme to dress in pink and get pampered for the morning.

Me and Lady A were so hungry before even reaching Amante, that the minute we arrived the first question was where's the food? We're so hungry! And if Tammy didn't stop us fast enough, we would have ruined the lovely display of food and couldn't have gotten such nice photos :P

I only managed to try the cream puff cos everything was polished off before I got to the table. You can imagine how hungry everyone was. The cream puff was delish! Look at all the pretty balloons! Tammy got Party Moo Moo Me to help out with the decorations. I always loved helium balloons cos they are so pretty and have long strings dangling down. Too bad the ceiling at Amante was too low, so the strings were very intrusive LOL.

See how much party decorations can help liven the place and make the whole place look entirely different. It must be so fun to work as a party planner / decorator - note to self, should try that out one of these days. Fally's birthday would be coming up soon, so will definitely head to Party Moo Moo Me and check them out :D

Today we were using Essie colors, as it was sponsored by My Nail Solution (they gave us such an awesome goodie bag to take home as well - will speak more of that later or in my next post). Amante actually has a separate room for you to do your manicure and pedicure and the area is dim and cosy, a good retreat to catch up with your nap or shy away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life and just be in your own world of self pampering.

My pedicure session started with a nice warm wash and scrub at just the right amount of pressure. Then I got a nice massage *mmm hmmm* felt so good after those nights of continuous partying and slaving the legs with super high 4 inch stilettos.

Then I got mummified with plastic wrapper and put on some funny clown socks :D

The socks are actually warmers, meant for the process of the Spa pedicure. Luckily I had Lady A along with me to chit chat and catch up cos I haven't seen her in ages! Then after over 30 minutes and closed to having my legs baked, they finally removed the socks - cleaned up and my nails were finally given the appropriate attention they needed after such a long torture.

Cut nails, file nails, cut cuticles, buff the leg a bit and the put cuticle softener. Then the process of my French pedicure begins. I like how the lady does it so well, freehand as well. So my toes look so pretty now HEHE! The white line is evenly done and just the right thickness so that it does not look awkward at all. I have experienced some places who does a shitty job with shabbily done French Manicure and Pedicure, even when you ask them to redo, its still as bad. So I'm super happy with my Amante experience once again! :)

*Tadaaaaaaaaa* The end result of my French pedicure thanks to Essie. The color is so nice and makes my feet look so clean. My leg felt so refreshed after the Spa pedicure, it's silky smooth now **pst Amante guarantees that you will have reduced wrinkles after this treatment, what joy ^^

The Coway Spa Water Softener Launching Day @ Sunway Lagoon

Last weekend, I was at Sunway Lagoon. The awesome theme park.

Remember - whenever you are at Sunway Lagoon, always supervise your kids at all times.

Anyways, what was I there for?

To meet this guy.... actually, nah. He was the balloon man!

I was here for the Coway Family Day, in conjunction with the launch of the Coway Spa Water Softener! A fun day out with family and friends of Coway, together with some celebrities and other fellow bloggers too!

The celebrities who were there include May June, Ning Baizura and some DJs too.

The massive crowd who were there. Figures estimated at some 500 people.

Obviously, the Bersih rally didnt stop them from coming here.

So I enjoyed my time doing manicure/pedicure, while the bf went for reflexology.

Here's a little display of the COWAY appliances; they have a wide variety of appliances which suits all types of households and families.

And yes, I was at their Appreciation Night, held two nights ago at Aristo, Zouk KL.

There were hundreds who were there - from the media as well as from the blogging networks, all there to celebrate the successful launch of the product. We were wowed by the wonderful and magical tricks of mentalist David Lai, and of course, the free flow alcohol and the awesome food too!

JD and Dilly from MixFM were the emcees for the event.

There were even pole dancers too!

And so the feedback I got were:-

1) Yoga – Hehe I do that everyday, it’s like my bible. Yoga helped me a lot in improving my sinus but doesn’t seem to help when it comes to good night sleep

2) Think of Daphne when I sleep – haha sounds so lesbo, but I do I do! I do dream of you babe LOL! But not in the wrong way of cos

3) Seeing the doctor – he just said I was too stress and need to cut down on workload LOL

4) Don’t drink water before I sleep – I don’t do that lor, still the same

5) Don’t drink beer before I sleep – I want to say I haven’t been drinking BUT I have been, but I definitely take time off from drinking before going to sleep haha – unless of cos if I’m drunk *ahem* recent trip to Singapore was so bad, I only slept a total of 10 hours for the 4 days and 3 nights - will drop dead dot com

6) Drink a glass of warm milk – yummm but I get too full I cant sleep wor

7) Do things I love before going to sleep – I’ve been burning the night oil with some series like Simpsons and The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl, gets too kan cheong I just go on and on haha BAD AITELYU! And listening to the music I tend to sing along oso mgh kenot also, and my mum can hear me and she asks me to shuddup and go sleep LOL

Tried all of that and it doesn’t work ;( how now? Then S tells me to take 5-HTP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-Hydroxytryptophan), which actually helped me to sleep throughout the night – somehow like a sleeping pill. Then when I did a search on it, it actually has side effects similar to sleeping pills. So in the long run that aint to good isn’t it? It is like a serotonin relaxant and that’s it.

I wouldn’t mind continuously taking this, cos it is like a lower dose of sleeping pills – rather used to that as well, as I used to take them when I fly in the plane because I can’t sleep and when I’m super stress and I get insomnia. All these were diagnosed by my doctor, cos I kept going back to tell him I couldn’t sleep and I just kept puking, they couldn’t find anything wrong with me and till he asked me to go on leave, gave me sleeping pills and I got better. Better than one of the doctors I went to when my regular doctor wasn’t around. He preached to me and said I had to find God, or else I won’t be at peace and will continue to be like that. Can you imagine? He held me back in the room for 30 over minutes, made me pass my number to him then only will he release me. Hallo?! That was so bad, and half the time listening and trying to concentrate I had a waste paper basket in front of me so I can puke and concentrate at the same time. Geez..

Then not long came Harmoni drink! Jeng jeng jeng! Like Superman appearing image* It looks horribly disgustingly green – reminds me of the Barley Green drink that my mum used to force me to drink when she was young. But don’t judge a book by its cover, lol the drink actually tastes like Tangs Orange powder juice drink ok – brings back memories~

At the first week I was like wth I really don’t feel any difference after taking the drink whilst other people were raving about how good they feel after having the drink then I spoke to A and I think he felt like strangling me because I actually didn’t realize that I have been sleeping through the night – eh hello how would I know la. I thought its like memory black out ma. I had no clue right? I only realized that hey how come when I go to the toilet early in the morning, I take so long to dispose of unnecessary toxins.

The good thing I like about this (although the effects felt isn’t that fast – according to Mum, it must be because my body is healthy woot*) is that it is made of a lot of natural ingredients and herbs – I will get to that boring part perhaps in the next post, so please hold your horses there. It would mean that there would be no side effect as compared to a drug like 5-HTP.

"My Sleeping Beauties"

It’s been madness! Forgive for the infrequent updates on my blog – unless on food reviews or food that I eat. :P Every single day I’m rushing here and there for meetings, I’ve been getting stressed out so easily and irritable. You know what the worst part is? That everyone tells me those are symptoms that causes sleeping disorder. According to a friend, when your cycle of sleep gets disturbed (can be due to various issues) you tend to feel so lethargic the next morning, some people even get migraine and stuff like that. Every morning though I have an alarm to wake me up before 8am, but I feel like just crawling back into bed and rest for a while more, hoping that I can sleep away the horrible feeling when I awake.

Then I spoke to S, my so-called nutritionist and health therapist, she asked me to Google on Sleep Disorder and check out the wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_disorder) teeth grinding is even on of the category of sleep disorder! =.=”

DENG! I’m a Bruxism (teeth grinder) and also Nocturia. I always thought that emptying the bladder during the night is a good thing, cos you eliminate toxins but little did I know that it actually disrupts your sleep cycle. Got such thing one meh? Isn’t sleep just sleep, as long as you get 8 hours of sleep at night, that’s all that matters ain’t it? But after some research it says otherwise, every time your cycle of sleep is broken, its like a running a race halfway and then getting disqualified and you have restart from the starting line. Sounds so frustrating.

So what can be done in order to avoid this? Any one have any recommendations? S just asks me to party hard and drink till I drop at least I don’t have to worry about waking up middle of the night cos its TKO – kidding.

To begin the lovely dining experience, we were started with a bowl of Caesar Salad (RM 23). Filled with yummy cherry tomatoes, it wet our appetites before the main dishes started pouring in. The vegetables are fresh and I love the idea that the cheese is hardened and shaped as part of the decor for this dish.

Our lovely Chef Ritz came to introduce himself and gave a little explanation on what On The Table is about and what he has install for us for the night.

Veloute of Pumpkin Soup (RM 26)

Then next came the pumpkin soup with scallop (a few nice thick pieces yum!) the soup was yummy and we all wanted more. The bf was supposed to join us, so we actually set aside some soup for him but after he decided otherwise, our dear friend wallop the rest. Jason did the same too, for the Caesar Salad LOL! I'm not a big fan of pumpkin soup but this is one of a kind. But second to my mum's pumpkin soup! Sorry but her pumpkin soup has pork bones inside (AND IT TASTES LIKE SIEW YOKE) - On The Table is a halal cuisine, hence there is no trace of pork anywhere :P

Then we were served with special drinks. I can't quite remember their names but they taste pretty good as well. Just open my blog page and point it to the Chef or the waiters la :P

Then came the Mee Goreng Mamak (RM 18) with super fresh prawns. I didn't have that much to try but I clearly remembered it tasting good. Something that the bf would actually like to have. And of cos nicer than Mamak stores as well. Well for the price you pay, you will be disappointed and upset if it wasn't.

Spaghetti Boscaiola in cream sauce (RM 36)

This is a MUST TRY OR WILL REGRET dish. All of us - especially Jason was so impressed with the dish, he wanted a 2nd round, which we did order eventually but without the Spaghetti. The foam that you see is actually mushroom foam and the cream sauce with shitake mushroom is so creamy and yummy, it makes my mouth water as I am typing. *drools*

Mushroom Melt Burger (RM 23)

To all Chili's burger fan. I think you may want to switch location to try our this burger instead. It juicier, chunkier, and has blue cheese which make the beef taste so good! Even better than the Chili's ranch burger, hands down. As Ken mentioned a true American Burger. This is also a MUST TRY at On The Table - especially looking at the price, it is cheaper than Chili's burger itself.

Nasi Goreng Kerabu (RM 23)

Seabass Sweet and Sour (Based on Market Rate)

This sweet and sour seabass was not cooked with the traditional sweet and sour sauce but it was brilliantly tweaked to use with Dragon Fruit to bring out the sweet and sourness. I'm not really a fan of seabass - hence I didn't actually take a bite. So do try it out for yourself to see the verdict

To end this beautiful dinner, we were served with scrumptious dessert platter. Honestly we were all feeling like dead fishes cos we were so full, can 'fan tou' already but then again, who can resist such a beautiful display of dessert. The Chocolate Fondant was brilliant, normally they are served to hard on the outside and causes it to stick to your teeth - not a very nice sight when you go on a date with a guy that you like lol. But this one has a just nice texture soft and really warm and rich on the inside. Some people may think it too wet, but I feel it is really nice cos it blends well with the outer layer.

Dragon Fruit Panna Cotta

You must be like UGHHHHH are you serious? That sounds gross doesn't it? Well it actually does not and the taste of Dragon Fruit actually compliments the Panna Cotta. Yum! I won't mind having another dish. If you have realized, Dragon Fruit is actually a significant fruit used for On The Table as wel - hence the Dragon Fruit Fish earlier.

The Best 炖奶 in Hong Kong!

During my recent trip to Hong Kong, I had this cravings for some 炖奶, or steamed milk pudding as how they call it. I had tried it before previously, and I really wanted to have it again...

Then the bf brought me back to this place again for the awesome steamed milk pudding.

It's called the Yee Shun Milk Company. Currently it has many different branches all over Hong Kong and Macau too - the one I went to was at Causeway Bay in Hong Kong island.

Super smooth double-skin steamed milk pudding...

For HKD$22, it was really very good. It has a smooth & soft texture and is dominated strongly by the milk flavour with perfect sweetness. If you're a milk lover like how I or the bf are, I'm sure you'll go crazy over this. The milk skin on top was extremely thin that you can barely feel the texture at all. I would say this steamed milk pudding is highly recommended!

Okay, I think I am missing it again.... =P

Food and Wine Pairing at Its Best, a Secret Soiree brought to you by O'Gourmet Bangsar Shopping Village and Michel Rollands

Thanks to a dear friend of ours, we got invited to a special, secret gathering that happens once to twice a month, organized by the reputable O'Gourmet at Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC).

According to thesaurus, Soiree is defined as an evening (Soir in French means evening) party or other gathering given usually at a private house, esp where guests are invited to listen to, play, or dance to music. But this Secret Soiree was a gathering to enjoy the pairing of quality food and quality wine from all across the world.

It was certainly a privilege and an eye opener to attend the event as we certainly learnt a lot about how wine is supposed to be paired with certain dished to bring out the flavors in the food, whether it is sweetness, spicyness and more. Not to mention the lovely people we met there and bumped into.

*Do you know that pairing the right cheese and white wine, can actually bring out such sweetness in white wine that you actually would not believe that you are sipping on wine? Yes it does and with the right recommendations, be prepared to be blown away!

When BSC first opened O'Gourmet we were oblivious to the fact that they sell premium wines, beef selections and even have Malaysia's only cheese room (yup, we found out a lot, all in one night), all we ever did was buy the lovely cakes from Just Heavenly, especially the chocolate brownie that melts in your mouth after each bite.

So when we were taken to a private area near the wine section, with a long table arrangement and 5 different wine glasses, I must admit I was impressed. Ling the person incharge mentioned that this Soiree happens on a monthly basis, sometimes up to twice a month - we were like WAH! I didn't know that. It is rather interesting. Even more when she mentioned that you can even call up to cater for parties of like 20 pax at as low as RM 50 per person. For a dinner party like that was actually not too bad, given the selection of food and wine we were served with.

For each Secret Soiree there would be a guest sommelier to explain on each and every wine provided and its origins and why the pairing of the food and wine. This round we had 2 guest sommeleir, which was Didier Richer and Sebastian (the consultant for Mezze, Damansara Heights)

** A sommelier is a wine steward, that is a trained and knowledgeable wine professional, commonly working in fine restaurants, who specializes in all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food matching. The role is more specialized and informed than that of a wine waiter.

For this series, the winemaker we were introduced to was Michel Rollands collection.

We were started with some introduction by Didier and our first glass was filled with Chateau La Grande Clotte Blanc (which was a white wine) Didier explained that Michel Rolland didn't do much white wine. He only produced a few thousand botles a year which was very little considering the fact it was distributed worldwide.

Of cos the initial stage before the wine started to kick-in and do the talking we were all rather quiet. But after a while, it was like taking a ride down memory lane.

Then the food arrived (it was labeled as Secret Menu so most of us didn't know where the food came from until the end of the evening) it was the pairing of green and white asparagus. White asparagus is rather rare and cost more than green asparagus and for those who doesn't fancy bitter vegetables you would feel the pairing for the green asparagus blends better with the white wine as green asparagus is sweeter. With white asparagus it brings out a bit of bitter taste to the wine and not everyone would fancy that - Malaysians are more of a sweet tooth compared to the French people.

The second pairing was Mariflor Pinot Noir together with spicy crab rissole with basil oil with guacamole and salsa dips. Each of which you will be surprised when dipped individually brings out a different and unique taste to it. At first I only dipped it with guacamole and found the taste of the wine on the mild side and Sebastian recommended me to try the latter dip, which I did of cos. And I discovered that it actually brought out the spiciness that this wine was supposed to bring out as it is spicy based.

And we went back to Bordeaux, France, the Chateau Bertineau Saint-Vincent which was aged in one-year old barrels paired with mini burger aux foie gras. When I first saw the foie gras burger I thought about The Daily Grinds foie gras burger (a bit disappointing when you pay over RM 50 for foie gras burger you would expect more substance, but let's not go there) I was not disappointed at all. Although it was a mini burger but it was a generous amount of foie gras bound to satisfy your taste buds =)

The 4th was the 2006 Chateau Fontenil Fronsac, which is aged between 12 to 15 months in a 60% new oak barrel. This red wine was paired with a scrumptious lamb cutlet marinated in basamico.

To end the beautify course dinner was the Argentina Yacochuya one of the most sophisticated Malbecs ever produced. Bound to make your taste buds spark! It was so heavenly to be paired with mini roquefort quiche - which was blue cheese. It was so shocking that blue cheese could actually taste so good! Makes me crave for more (however it is sadly not available at Mezze, as it is only specially produced for this dinner)

Each and every dish was picked and matched perfectly with much consideration and discussions between the head chef and the 2 lovely sommeliers. Thank you so much for the lovely time! :)

With the recent hoo haa on the coming up Petronas Formula 1 this weekend, so I decided to kepoh and click around on Facebook to find out more information. Then I stumbled across this Facebook page

They had a new fuel called the new F1 Technology Inspired Fuel to be launched inconjunction with the Petronas Formula 1 that will be taking place this Sunday on the 10th April 2011. This was recently blogged by Paul Tan here. It was mentioned that this new fuel will offer improved acceleration and will be a better fuel economy. Nicely done!

I mean with recent hikes in petrol price, especially RON97 and what not, you pay an arm and a leg in order for you to pay for your one full tank of petrol. Worst still if you are someone like me who runs around a lot everyday, one full tank barely lasts a week. That’s madness! I’m spending bucket loads of money just on petrol, imagine all the bags I can buy instead T____T”

Its Time to try Something New

I never thought that a website could be that interesting, and it is even more amazing that this is a site about sanitary pads! Most people tend to shy away from talking about pads, but hey, it is something that every woman needs and there is always lack of information on this necessity.

The Libresse website have tons of information on Libresse sanitary pads – each and every type available on the market. If you click on “What is Libresse?”, you will find a comprehensive infomercial on what makes Libresse so different from other sanitary pads.

“What is so special about Libresse?” Most women would ask that question since there are so many different brands and types of pad on the market. Well, Libresse has two main benefits which is not available in other brands – Secure Fit and DHC (Deep Flow Channels). If you check out the website, you can click on the image of the pad; you can see the different areas of the pad and the explanation for each unique section. I was pretty curious so I literally clicked on everything that was clickable. Haha.

One thing I highly recommend you to do. There is a fun interactive video section called “Watch your favourite celebrities try new things”. Click on it! You MUST MUST MUST play with this section as it is really impressive and fun. I clicked on the English language selection to watch Adibah do fun new things and at the end of the first video, I was asked to help her make a choice on which new thing to try out next. I had to enter my phone number and name, and they actually called! Well, it was a prerecorded call but it was fun nevertheless. After choosing which experience you want to see next, the next video will be played. Sounds fun? Try it! There are also videos by popular singer Yuna in Bahasa Melayu, and the charming Chong sisters Pam and Van talking to you in Mandarin. I actually clicked on all the videos! Haha. That was how interesting it was. It was also fun to see how these celebrities handle the extremities of the task they are given. If you remember those “Choose your own adventure” books, these videos were something along those lines. You don't have to worry about prank calls or someone on the other line trying to sell you something. It is straightforward and this is the first time I've seen something like this done on any website or commercial.

If you are one of those girls (like myself) who tend to miss lots of fun TV commercials, you should check out the Libresse commercials posted on the site. I found the commercials pretty entertaining, and that says a lot looking at the many lame commercials there are shown on TV these days.

Also on the website, there is also a section called “Grrl Power”; it has tips on the four major things girls tend to worry about – finance, relationship, career and investment. The tips are pretty helpful especially for young girls who need to learn how to invest and manage their money. On top of that, there are also links in each subsection, so if you want to know more about a particular subject, you can check it out without having to search for sources all over the internet.

I find the Libresse website is more than just a site about the brand. There are lots of other information that girls should know about and there are even links to other useful sites on education, finance and credit management, fitness and even entrepreneurship. I believe these topics are important to women especially at this time and age where we need to find a way to live a fulfilling life independently.

By the way, don't forget the “Goodies” section! I found the games in that section fun to play. Although the games seem simple, don't be fooled! There are three games based on three celebrities; Yuna, Adibah, and Pam and Van. Yuna's game is very much like Tap Tap Revenge or Guitar Hero. You've got to press A, S, J, K or L accordingly as the music notes fall down to the lighted bottom. Each correct hit causes more notes to drop down. I tried playing it so many times and when there were too many notes my fingers just knotted up! It is not as easy as I thought it was going to be. Maybe I need to practice more to increase my eye-hand coordination.

Adibah's game is easy and a little hilarious. You just need to keep the balls in the area bouncing while controlling a figure of Adibah. The amusing thing is that if you pay closer attention, Adibah uses her butt to bounce the balls around! I found that hilarious and very much in character with Adibah's fun personality. As for Pam and Van's game, you need to keep the stick on which the vase Pam is balancing on steady to prevent her from falling. As time passes, the stick gets shorter making it more difficult to keep both the vase and Pam steadily balanced. Sounds pretty fun, right? You really should check out the site as soon as possible.

You can also download widgets, screensavers, wallpapers, and even ringtones from the “Goodies” section. Psst.. check out the ringtones. They are really funny!

I was at Palate Palette the other day for the launch of the PUMA SOCIAL CLUB!!!

The night was awesome, they transformed the whole Palate Palette into a whole PUMA joint. There were plenty of booze, and then plenty of social games too - including foosball and table-tennis.... and that is not all - they had pretty awesome prizes too!!!

This place is located at EMPIRE SHOPPING GALLERY. I had always wondered what was interesting in there, but somehow it never really impressed or attracted me enough to head over there - until I was introduced to this place....

It is called... The Vanilla Place.

As you get there - the first impression that you would get when you get here is this... WOWWW.... the array of cakes and macaroons are so colourful - it is going to be so expensive! But then after checking out further - I realized that the prices are really considerably cheap!!!

If you're into hummus... check out their assorted homemade bread with dips! I love hummus - and that dish... it was super awesome!!!

On to the main courses....

The Vanilla Place is quite famous for its spaghetti. I tried the Spaghetti carbonara. The portion is quite huge and I was actually struggling to finish it. Interestingly - this main course cost only RM14.80!

Then go try the RM 18.80 super bargain super awesome lamb rack!!! This one sounds a mouthful already. After that - also check out their Poached salmon fillet with saffron sauce! *wooots*

There are plenty of other awesome main courses as well, including the fisherman pie, the lamb kofta sandwich, the beef stew, a whole long list of other pastas (try the aglio olio!)...

I am always a sucker for good desserts - and I would say... this is a cool place for desserts too!!!

The sign is pretty sharp - it's quite difficult to miss it.

This place gives a really homely feeling - with its display of some old traditional gadgets and so on. The atmosphere gives you an old nostalgic feeling - its as though you were back in the 1960s or 1970s.

On 22 February, Palate Palette proudly presents Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, by director Peter Joseph, a feature length documentary work, which will present a case for a needed transition out of the current socioeconomic monetary paradigm which governs the entire world society. This is a non-commercial project, which means it is available for free acquisition via internet in both viewing form and full DVD download. I was at Pavilion the other day to yumcha right after our heavy dinner at Shanghai, J W Marriott. Spotted the Chinese New Year decor at Pavilion, thought I would share them here.

The CNY rabbits at the entrance.

Plenty of beautiful lanterns hanging on the CNY trees.

A closer look of the rabbit reminds me of the Alice in Wonderland's White Rabbit.
